Common Carpet Piles NZ

There are two main types of carpet pile:

  1. Loop pile including multi-loop pile and level loop pile – this is the more common option of the two. Loop pile carpets are hard-wearing as they reduce movement, so wear isn't as visible.
  2. Cut pile including cut pile twist and cut pile plush – this pile produces soft and luxurious carpets, although they are not as hard-wearing. Therefore, cut pile carpets are best suited for medium and low traffic locations.

There are also carpet options available that are a composite of loop and cut pile.

Common Carpet Materials

Most carpets you will find here at Mobile Flooring Showroom are blends. The most common materials in the carpet blends we offer include:

  • Wool carpet – a natural and soft material that is quiet to walk on. Wool also has great insulating properties and it’s naturally resistant to fire. It is also renewable, biodegradable, and durable.
  • Nylon – nylon is a very popular choice in New Zealand. It is tough, fade-resistant, stain-resistant, and resistant to moisture.
  • Polyester and polypropylene – a softish carpet option that is stain and fade-resistant.
  • Triexter – a new carpet material that is very soft, stain-resistant, and moisture-resistant.

Blue ColoursCarpets

Whether you want a grey carpet, blue carpet, or any other tone or colour, we’ve got what you are looking for here at Mobile Carpet Showroom. This includes light carpets that can brighten rooms as well as dark colours that help to hide dirt.

Durability Wool Carpet

Carpets typically come with a durability grading of medium, heavy, or extra heavy. So, for high-traffic areas like halls, an extra heavy option would be recommended, but you could choose a medium or heavy option for other parts of your house.

Stair Carpet Options

It is important to choose the right stair carpet for a range of reasons. This includes ease of installation, plus carpets installed on stairs should be non-slip. We can help you choose the best stair carpet for your requirements.

What is Sisal Carpet?

We offer a range of sisal carpet options here at Mobile Flooring Showroom. Sisal carpets are hard-wearing, so they are suitable for stairs, halls, and other high-traffic areas. They are made from natural fibres plus they are good at hiding stains and dirt. The natural tones also make sisal carpets a popular choice.

Why Choose Shag Carpet?

You’ll find a lot of information on this page. If you have another query, contact us to speak to a member of our team.

The difference between a shag carpet and other types of carpet is the pile. Shag carpets have a deep pile that has a shaggy appearance, adding luxury as well as being very soft underfoot.

In large rooms where seams are inevitable, those seams will be invisible with shag carpet.
